Review: Trance

World of Blackout 77-Word Film Review

Trance Poster

Trance
Cert: 15 / 101 mins / Dir. Danny Boyle

I'll keep this short. If you like Shallow Grave/Trainspotting-era Danny Boyle, go and see Trance. Don't apply 'well, that wouldn't happen' logic to it, and don't try and second-guess the plot; just enjoy Boyle telling a great story and telling it well.
The constant soundtracking's a little intrusive, but it doesn't derail proceedings.

The power of the film lies in the first viewing, so try and avoid spoilers. Go. Enjoy.

Is the trailer representative of the film?
Yes.

Did I laugh, cry, gasp and sigh when I was supposed to?
Oh, yes.

Does it achieve what it sets out to do?
Absolutely.

Pay at the cinema, Rent on DVD or just wait for it to be on the telly?
Cinema.

Will I think less of you if we disagree about how good/bad this film is?
Yes.

Will I watch it again?
Yes.

Is there a Wilhelm Scream?
No.

And because you won't be happy until I've given it a score...
